The 3,637 graduands of the 19th Convocation of the University of Buea have been told to go out and be ready to lead and to serve. The Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Nalova Lyonga who was addressing the granduants, emphasized that they should develop a spirit national interest and to avoid reaping where they did not sow.
Adding her voice to that of the Vice Chancellor, the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony, cum pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Dorothy Njeuma cautioned the graduating students to stay away from vices like cyber-criminality and to cultivate ethical values. She said this while presenting an academic discourse.
This year’s graduation saw a student from the Department of Physics, Mbou Sob Ulrich Armel, as best graduating student with a GPA of 3.76. The second best graduating student, Batan Mafor Glory graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and the third, Nguento Guiawa Anais Sandra graduates with a GPA of 3.54 from the department of Mathematics Engineering.
In the Faculty of Arts, Mokoko Catherin Efeti graduates top of that faculty with a GPA of 3.47. The lone First Class Degree in the Faculty of Social and Management Science was bagged by Melvis Neh Ambe.
