A very powerful wind that hit communities around Buea in the early hours of Sunday March 16, 2014, has left some houses and crops destroyed. The thunder storm that was accompanied by heavy rains took off a roof in Ewonda village leaving one person hospitalised and many yam and plantain farms destroyed. The wind even broke off tree branches in some neighbourhoods and villages, blocking some major roads. The storm started at about 3:00 am that Sunday and went on till about 6:30 am. Farmers are already predicting that the prizes of farm products like yams and plantains will double this year since there would be a likelihood of shortage of these products.
