Members of the Wokova(Bokova), Wova(Bova), Wonakanda(Bonakanda) Area Development Association (BONAVADA) USA Branch, have promised a lifetime support to pupils in their community. The president of the USA branch, Peter Mwambo Keka Mbella, made this pronouncement on Thursday 17 December, 2009 during the inauguration of CFAF half a million toilet project to Government School (G.S) Wova and the award of encouragement gifts to pupils from three schools in the BONAVADA area.
Mola Mwambo explained that their presence to inaugurate the toilets is to disclose plans they have for the community in the days ahead. According to him, the best place to train minds for a better future is in schools. He therefore noted that, that is why members of their group are looking back to their alma mater and other schools in the community to contribute their own quota to ensure the training of future leaders.
While guaranteeing the continuous flow of support to their community’s development as long as the means are available, the USA branch president prayed parents to make sure that their children do their homework and be respectful. Mola Mwambo maintained that community development is a collective responsibility that requires contributions from individuals at different levels.
On his part, another USA branch member, Mola Martin Yangange Musonge, disclosed plans to plant a Solar Energy System at G.S Wova. Mola Musonge who is also a product of G.S Bova added that it is thanks to the academic foundation that G.S Bova built in him that he has been able to rise to where he is today. Mola Martin Musonge, a Civil Engineer, surmised that if all those who passed through G.S Bova and elites in the community put hands on deck, the school would be equipped and transformed to a school with Western standards. They also promised to supply the school with computers in the days ahead.
The members of the BONAVADA USA branch stated that their branch was created in August 2009 at the home of Dr David Kinge Njie Makongoh a.k.a Mesingeh. It should be noted that Mola Kinge Njie Makongoh had communicated the problem of the absence of toilet facilities at G.S Bova at bonavada-online. This spurred the need for them to unite and raise funds to solve some of the problems the school faces. Another toilet is under construction and members have also promised to build an office for Government Nursery school, Wova.
After thanking BONAVADA USA members for the kind and timely gesture, the head teacher of G.S Wova also disclosed that a lady in Wova I, Madame Enjema Vevange recently registered 33 pupils in her school and 18 at G.S Wonakanda to write the First School Leaving Certificate and Government Common Entrance Examinations.
Closing the occasion, the Divisional Officer for Buea, Simon Kwemo, thanked the BONAVADA Elites for contributing to assist government’s effort toward nation building. The D.O explained that it is government’s responsibility to build schools and equip them. According to him, the government has been unable to meet up with this due to the inelastic nature of the needs across the country compared to available resources. He said that that is why the some of the duties of Parent Teacher Associations are to assist government in developing schools.
