On Sunday 5th of October 2014, teacher’s day was celebrated in Limbe at the Manga Williams Avenue.
This event was celebrated in the ten regions of the country by all teachers of both the primary and secondary sectors. These teachers expressed themselves in their various activities including marching. They also wore beautifully designed clothes and were the point of attention. This is a day set aside and intended to appreciate teachers and also honour them for their special contributions in the building up of our societies. It was also marked with festivities. Furthermore, the celebration for this day tends to vary from country to country. The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘’investing in the future, investing in teachers’’. This theme showed the teachers that their work was celebrated and appreciated, despite heavy criticisms in Cameroon this year for the poor GCE results in English Language and mathematics.
The occasion was attended by the Government Delegate of the Limbe City Council (Mr. Andrew Motanga), Lord Mayor Rodanny Mbua of the Limbe one council, SDO, the Minister of Basic education and other dignitaries who also expressed themselves in their respective speeches and encouraged all these teachers to keep up with all the good work.
All in all the teachers’ day was a joyous one and the efforts of all the teachers were widely acclaimed.
